Yesterday, the birds dealt my buddy and I the middle finger. They had been on a certain pattern and then yesterday they did the exact opposite of what they've done the last couple days. When they flew down they headed onto a neighbor I can't access. That's turkey hunting. But my other buddy had a full day full of gobblers but no kill. He nocked one down at 20 and it flopped into the creek and got outta dodge. His gun is pretty tight at that distance so I'm thinking he hit to a side. Dog couldn't turn it up so ..... This morning, birds played the game. Off the roost they kind of acted like they may repeat yesterday but I hammered on em with the calls and got em turned our way. They gobbled their heads off coming in, hit the edge of the field and came right in. A count of three and we dropped em. I broke in the 410! Buddies bird weighed 24#10oz had a 10 1/4" beard and 1 1/2" spurs. Mine weighed 14#2oz and had a heavy full 10.5" beard and 1 1/4" spurs. Smallest weight in a fully mature bird I've ever shot. Off to public for me tuesday.
