Got my first bird earlier this season. Went several times since to the same farm trying to get this one certain bird that’s been giving me a hard time. Always with hens and only once was he coming in and some hens got between us and ruined that. Really didn’t want to give up on that bird but did. So yesterday afternoon I was at another farm checking my cattle and spotted 3 long beards together. I normally don’t hunt there because the cattle spook bad in mornings going in. This morning going in sure enough right about where I was going to setup I walked up on some calves so they ran off taking about 50 more with them and the rest stayed off in back field. Now I remember why I don’t like hunting there. Heard only a couple gobbles but setup up on field edge lightly yelping and sure enough all 3 sounded off with one just over hill in field. Several more soft yelps and a bunch of strutting from the big ole Tom and he was finally in range all swelled up. I let him have it with the 835 and down he went. Overall in my area not lots of birds this year but hoping next year it rebounds better.
