Dogs Chasing Deer

I have a squirrel dog that will chase a deer… I have a Texas heeler that will freeze, sit, and let it pass…

I keep a remote shock collar on my mountain cur, and October-November I make sure he doesn’t leave the yard much… he caught a fawn this past spring and chased a few others… that has to stop…if he runs onto the neighbors chasing deer, or doing anything the property owner deems unacceptable and get shot, ITS MY FAULT…it is a dog and then have no notion of property lines and, I would hope the other guy would take that into consideration. But if not it’s his right to shoot a dog.

I would hope a one time offense would not warrant a death shot. But some people are assholes and that’s all it takes…

Sounds like the OP has an exceptional issue… 15 different dogs… that’s a lot… I’ve seen a husky and a pit bull running together kill 5-6 deer, 3sheep, and a freaking horse!!!
Hard to find 15 different owners… more than likely it’s just 2-3 owners… I’d cut that number down to about 5 dogs and see what happens…owners will take the hint, or lose 5 more dogs…I hate crossbows, but this sounds like a good place to utilize such tool

I went calling coyotes today and had dogs come in to howls on 2 different set ups. The first one was way out in the woods far from any houses. I actually had it on trail camera in the same area a couple years ago on a deer carcass. The next spot on the opposite side of the farm I had 2 dogs run in to howls. I hope it doesn't happen again...

I knew when i read this title it would be SE Kentucky. Every time i tried to hunt public in that area i had dogs running deer. Nobody seems to keep them put up. Just disrespectful of owners to do this.

Pretty sure its illegal to randomly shoot a dog these days. In the past, a very common practice though.

I'm sure there are some pictures and some witnesses to deer being killed. I'm saying its rather rare and most times a healthy deer will not be killed. We have something like a million deer in Kentucky and I'd bet the percentage killed by dogs will hardly make a blip on the statistical scale.
So, you are saying you are wolf and coyote lover as well? SInce they only target the sick , young or weak , correct?

I think its justified when it attacks your livestock or pets or attacks a person. I don't think you can legally if its just on your property or running deer. I said legally.

It’s justified if it’s on my property. I’m looking out for wildlife on my property and could care less about other peoples opinions on the matter. Most people have the opinion that their pet can go where they want.
