Dogs Chasing Deer

I’m fairly new to Kentucky this is my second season hunting here. I am in the South East region. I routinely capture dogs chasing deer on my property mostly on cameras but I have witnessed it. I have witnessed by camera or sight more than 15 different dogs. Yesterday a gigantic black Bull mastiff type dog chased a buck by my stand. I’ve seen this dog chasing deer before. I’ve driven around the area and cannot locate where it lives. Does this happen all over KY or is this unusual? Are these dogs killing the deer or just chasing them. What do you think the impact on the deer’s health is? My opinion is the deer probably become accustomed to the dogs and just return. The health impact must be great. The buck yesterday was one of the biggest in this area. I followed the tracks and the dog chased him for over a mile off my property. He must be rut depleted, now he is exerting all this energy trying to escape this dog. What should I do if anything?

Seems only natural to me. My dogs will and do chase anything and everything which moves, and two are exceedingly fast. They have chased the deer a few times here at the cabin (every time they have been loose and seen them), and the deer have returned, soon after the fact. Mine lack interest in killing the deer and simply enjoy the chase.

Politely talk to your neighbors, showing them photos of the dogs. You can put up some live traps, if necessary. Just ensure that you take them some place they will not be put down and can be adopted.

Common around here, just like the deer you're pursuing, some die, and some live, I've even seen green jeans shoot them because it's against the law to harvest deer from running them with dogs.

Are they chasing all year long or just during rifle season?
Some deer hunters turn loose dogs to chase deer and bring them out from their hiding spots. They turn them loose to hunt deer that are on other properties. The dogs chase them off your property and onto theirs.
If I have this problem, I will give them the 10-foot rule and that is about as far as they make it.
Had that problem when deer hunting first came around in my area. There was a fox hunter who hated deer and every year during deer season he would turn loose a bunch of hounds to chase deer's out of the hollows.

Had him on leash mere moments ago, only because he doesn't have enough sense to return inside at 24°F, even stubbornly refusing.

Took him to his favorite pole, but he obviously became immediately distracted and pointed, after freezing. I did not teach him to point like that, but he is a pointer. No idea which critter he spied and did not provide him time to yank me in powerful launch toward it.

I have beagles chasing rabbits and also a couple of labs that come through my place regularly. None of them are mine, but belong to neighboring farms. They don’t seem to chase the deer and the deer don’t seem to be alarmed by them. As a matter of fact, just about an hour ago I had 3 doe come by and about 15 minutes later I had one of the labs come by from the way the deer went. I figure they had to pass each other.

Years ago they did a study in Michigan and came to the conclusion that the biggest threat to fawn mortality were stray dogs and dogs running loose in general.

Beagles.
Beagles don't count as Deer Runnin dogs to me. I have no problem with them but few people around here have them. They WILL kill and eat every young rabbit they can find in the Spring, and IF you are serious about Rabbit Hunting, you should pen them up in the spring and summer.
Then....The Coyotes just kill the little ones.
