I'm halfway there. This turkey hunting business isn't as much fun as grouse hunting but any excuse to carry a gun in the woods to kill something is all right.
Getting ready to nab some pigeons and get a couple of pups on them. My pup has given 6 points on wild birds in March, and 2 of her littermates are pointing every robin and cardinal that come in the yard. We'll give them so action here in a few weeks before the temps get unbearable.
No bird work for mine since the woodcock left out, but she gets out everyday to get her run. Im going to take her fishing with me tomorrow when I get back from Pikeville.
Im debating whether to breed mine or not. If I do, Ill probably end up missing out in Wisconsin. Ill have 6 week old pups running around when its time to leave.
Forgot to mention. Ive seen 3-4 birds since the season went out. Trust Me an I have heard 4-5 drumming while chasing the turkeys around here the last 3 weekends. I hope this rain doesnt hurt any nest. Im sure the eggs havent hatched yet, have they?
Here are a couple of pics I took a couple days ago of the pups. It is hard to believe that they are 5 weeks old. I get them out twice a day for funs and giggles. It's not much fun as you can see.
