I'm calling BS on that, too. Beagles aren't fast enough to push a deer hard enough to collapse. That deer could run and take a breather before the dogs even got close again. Maybe a pack of Walkers or other coonhound -types could push it that hard, but not beagles.
Beagles and similar size dogs can push deer to the point of exhaustion. I’ve seen it. They’re not fast enough to catch it but they can keep tracking and pushing a deer till it wears down. Deer will overheat pretty quickly when getting pushed especially when they have a winter coat and it’s warmer temps out. They’re sprinters not marathon runners. Dogs on the other hand have pretty good stamina depending on the breed. Beagles can chase rabbits all day and want more. They’re tough and determined little dogs

If that were the case, there wouldn't be a deer alive anywhere once a pack of coyotes moved in.

I’d disagree. Coyotes will chase a deer but won’t keep pushing like a dog. They’re different critters with different minds. Coyotes don’t tend to pack up like a dog. 3 maybe 4 coyotes in a group is a lot in one group. But it’s nothing to see 5 or 6 dogs packed up running strip jobs in the hills. Plus coyotes are always looking for the easy meal. Small game and rodents require a lot less work than a deer. That said they certainly can and do bring down deer and there’s plenty of trail cam footage out there to demonstrate that but if given the choice between having a pack of dogs running a place and coyotes I’d take the coyotes

In all honesty, out here in the country weve had 3 dogs from our neighbors house gang up on a doe, drag her down, and kill her in our driveway. Im not telling you I know how they did it, or if she was injured prior, I just know I had to run them off and take what was left off. So it happens. The frequency and the details probably vary wildly but it happens from time to time.

years ago 2 dogs cornered a deer in a fence corner, behind my parents house. They ended up killing it before I could get my .22 mag. But they joined the little buck they killed shortly thereafter. I would think it is pretty rare occurrence for a single dog to kill an adult deer. But not impossible.

BS or "misinterpreted". If I killed a deer today, I would get a picture of new puppy Spike and the deer and say that it is Spike's first deer.

I have had 2 dobermans in my day, they can be aggressive and intimidating but they are a relatively soft breed.
