Haha this has almost turned into a Pi**ing match. Now that makes me laugh. I suggest we go to a split season. You may lovers can put in for the second season and stay out of the woods all april and let us that feel the hunting is better early hunt our little tails off the first season. maybe even let us hunt march to since we suck so bad we cant kill one in a 3 week season.

I have been very blessed to hunt Texas, Florida, Ky, and heading to Nebraska this month........ Florida and texas i get it, the geography, climate, etc.. for early opening. Ky, i do agree with most of you on the opening, if you do understand turkeys, we are late. As a many of you have stated, our start is past the prime with our birds. I have noticed this for years as have many of you. A good example is Nebraska. Their season, in the county i will be hunting, opened the same weekend ours did!!!!! Much farther north, cold, and crappy!!! My contact out there has worked birds since day one, compared to our geographical locale, this fact alone would make a believer out of me that we are missing best hunting. (IMO) of course.

Its simple most of us will take the 1st 3 weeks of April "if we can get it" and then if you don't wanta hunt until May thats fine hunt in May. I did hear 1 gobble about 7 times this morning on the limb..flew out in a huge field then was joined by another gobbler..after they hit the ground no more gobbling or struting..just picked their way away.Didn't season in Ky. used to open up earlier when they first opened it back up to hunting??

Same debate as every year just with a differant title to the thread. Give us the weekend after the youth season and leave the weekends in may for the people that hunt them in the northern part of the state also problem solved. Because in my part of the state its pretty much over. Yea I may catch one feeling froggy this weekend if the weather stays right but for the most part they are about done here. If I have to sit and deer hunt them its not the same. Thats my 2 cents worth and Ive been at this for around 30 years.

Agreed!!!!!! KY is pretty large state, to generalize that the conditions are the same everywere is silly. Very few and I mean few are killed around here in May in my neck of the woods. (Bell Co.)

For real man? I was almost talked into believing it was the same everywhere; Note of sarcasm! How nice it would be if that was the case, only thing is...I wish it was the same statewide for just one season, & I mean the same as what it is around here every season. Then we'd have a much larger bandwagon!

Lol, went out with the brother-in-law this morning "hoping" to find one alone & still hunting for those "won't shut up, run your decoy over & sit in your lap" gobblers. Thing is I heard plenty of gobbling, sounded like probably 4...possibly in the same tree. They stayed there (still sounding like they were in the tree) til we left & that was 10. I do believe from what I could make out of it...they were socializing with this; "Since the ladies are quiet, & sitting on their bottoms.. We can talk about the "possible" death of Bin Laden, about how cold it was this morning & how we can't wait til next Feb. & March so we can get some more poontang!"
