Diamond paste for strop

    Looking on eBay at it, never used the paste. I’m seeing Diamond Paste, iron oxide paste, and softening paste.
    Is there different coarseness with each one to finish the blade? Or how exactly does that work? Thank you

    yes there is. I buy mine from sharpeningsupplies.com or one of the places I buy knife making supplies from. Its measured in microns just like other abrasives. You dont need to get crazy with it though. I usually use 3 micron as an all around. It works real well

    I just use cut and color on mine. I sharpen most of my stuff with a Norton IM313. Strop is for fine edge straightening so I'm not using any real abrasive on it.

    I was inspires by the thread and have leather laying around for holsters and sheaths, so I made a couple of strops (one for a friend and one for me). I sharpened as normal and then stopped a few knives for a few minutes each. Razors now. 20210131_162006.jpg
