@riverboss you need to go Deer Huntin with @skruske in the UP. He sees them and hears them often, but said they are protected so he never kills one....
Been looking on the net for a place to go hunt them! Want to stay in the lower 48 out west, I'm not getting any younger and need to scratch this itch if it's doable. Want a descent success rate on harvest, probably only get to go one trip and want to try and make it count.
Looks like they changed it to 119 Riverboss, maybe you can get in on a hunt somewhere this year https://www.jsonline.com/story/spor...19-wolves-wisconsin-february-hunt/4543149001/
For the big black wolves you will want to plan a hunt in northern Alberta. Wyoming is shoot on sight outside the national parks. Not sure what license is needed but there is no closed season as wolves are considered a varmint. All of the wolves I've seen in the U.P. eh, have been a variation of grey & tan. The yearling I was closest to, 40 yards, probably went 90lbs. The pack of 4 I saw a couple years ago, at 100yds, appeared to all be mature animals and likely tipped the scales at 140-160lbs.
Good friend has big black one mounted from Idaho. We heard abunch and saw lots of tracks mule deer hunting this year. Look up bear creek outfitters in Idaho on face book. They kill alot of them. I had a tag in my pocket it was 28 bucks.
Saw this on Whitaker's site . I know it should go on varmit hunting, but I never post on that, so if you know someone interested, I put this here, you can tell someone or move it.
