Wife has seen em twice while on stand in Alberta. Took a shot at one the first time, 400-500 yds, missed thank goodness. Would have cost me $3500 for life-size mount.
I had em howling near me one morning at day break. Eerie is an understatement.

I was on a moose hunt years ago in Canada. They let me out of the boat an I walked up a trail to watch a clearing/crossing one evening.
I went back to the same spot the next morning. I saw wolf tracks trailing my tracks from the night before.
When my guide picked me up that day, I told him about the wolf tracks. He said, Well you had better not shoot one. I told him I'd be go to hell if I was going to set up there and let wolves eat me especially when I had a 30-06 and plenty of shells. He just laughed.

We always had tags for wolves in case we saw one.

Yep I agree Greg. Always have the tag in your pocket if possible. When I go on my Brown Beer hunt in May, you’re allowed to harvest wolves as well “if” ya see ‘em. Just pray I get the chance.

I'm originally from Wisconsin and still have plenty of family there. It's pretty cool hearing them howl, but makes it very interesting going to the deer stand at "O" dark thirty.

You need to go deer hunting with @skruske in the UP. He has contact with them every winter.

Most states you got to. I don’t care. Won’t be that bad. Hell while we are at we go catch us a big cat and release it.

I’d say wolf would be just like any other K9 I’ve let go. They just peel the hell out. Except for one dog. He tried to get on four wheeler with me and go home with me. Cats on the other hand just sit there and watch you. Don’t turn your back on them.

I'd say he try to eat you while you were trying to get him out of the trap
