I’ve had mixed results with deer “bacon”. How’d you like it?

My youngest loves deer bacon. I think that may be the key to get him more interested in deer hunting lol.

I don't understand the whole concept.
Bacon has fat
Deer has zero fat

I don't see how it would be close

After saying that, I am gonna try to make both a salt and sugar cured ham from venison

I had to look it up. So, it’s like ground jerky that got fried instead of dehydrated? I don’t think i would like that unless it was wrapped in real bacon and deep fried in bacon grease.

I thought It was more like dry SPAM strips than bacon. It was fine for what it was but make no mistake. It wasn’t bacon.

Yeah, that pretty much describes it. Heckuva let down when you're expecting at least bacon flavor....

Bought a pack of Webbs elk chipotle bacon in Louisville several years back. No where near like bacon. But boy o boy it was good. Any of youins from western Kentucky have that recipe Id be much obliged if you would share it.

I had some made up several years ago when I took some meat to a processor (which is a rarity for me) and as said above, it reminded me of SPAM. Was it bad? No. But “bacon” it was not.

Nope,traditional bacon it is not.
But taste pretty dang good fried up early morning on a river somewhere fishing/camping.

I mix mine 50/50 with pork butts.
