I have a CVA Wolf that I got last year that shoots 1 inch groups at 100 yds. with Hornady 45 cal. 250 gr. SST sabots in front of 100 grains of Pyrodex. I tried 150 grains, but it would not group worth a dime. Plus, it was quite punishing on the shoulder. In hindsight, I am glad the 100 gr. loads group better than the 150's due to the recoil. I took a doe with it last year at 95 yards.
Put a tasco 3x9x50, all i have at the time, but seems to be good so far, i did back this wolf back to 80 grain measured blackhorn 209 , they say the wolf is a entry level, muzzleloader, but this little feller, kicks like a mule, as far as shooting it is fine, but if i was gonna , introduce a younger kid, to muzzleloading, i would want to back the powder charge off even more.
HCDH66, i wrote this before i saw your post, i agree with you, great little gun, kills on one end and cripples on the other LOL, this one has a great trigger, and no complaint with the gun, except for the kick.
