My cousin killed his first buck with a bow last weekend and man was it a stud.
He had been sending me pics of this buck for weeks...Last Friday (Oct 4), he calls me while I’m at work and it wasn’t quite dark enough to be out of the stand, so I knew something had happened. He proceeded to tell me he had just let an arrow fly at the “big 12”. He wasn’t sure how good of a shot he had made, so he decided to wait a few hours before looking for any blood. After a couple of hours he calls back and says he’s going to head back out in the morning to search, he didn’t want to risk jumping the deer (good call btw).
After getting off work that night and getting about 4 restless hours of sleep, I made the hour and half long trip to meet up with him at first light. We then joined up with his hunting partner and another guy who had a tracking dog in training. Within no time, the young dog had led us right to this brute roughly 100 yards from where he was shot. I’ve never seen my cousin that happy...Glad I could be there to witness it, definitely a day I’ll never forget! 2D127B0A-DDE5-4F59-91BB-1B7125D1D4E1.jpeg

That is a brute! Why was it a good call if it only went 100 yards? Where did he hit it? Just curious.

He said he shot him as he was quartering towards him, and wasn’t 100% on where the arrow went in. The blood he had found didn’t have any bubbles in it and also had a lil green in it. Upon recovery, we found the shot was pretty far back and came out the stomach. I’d say it took him awhile to expire, he wasn’t very stiff when we got to him roughly 12 hours later.
