Anyone hunt coons with cur dogs?
Never coon hunted with one, but had a brindle mountain cur. Smart, natural tracker, and had a hell of a nose on her. Best hunting dog I've ever owned.
Yes, They can be hunted on coon, squirrel, hogs bear etc. very versatile dogs.
We’ve got a 7 month old Mountain Cur pup. She’s my son’s hound. I’ll admit they are way yonder smarter than hounds I’ve messed with. I believe she’ll make a squirrel/coon/all purpose tree dog. I’ve been pleased with what I’ve seen out of her so far.
She already understands game climbs trees. And she’s plenty gritty, so my hope is she’ll either tree it or catch it on the ground.
Never coon hunted my mountain cur, but he's showed me several daytime coons while squirrel hunting.
Never treed a coon in the daytime but I have treed a Bobcat in the daytime.
I've had a few Cur Coon Dogs....
I've hunted with 'em off and on for years. If they will tree anything they will almost always tree coons too. Have fun with yours
You still hunting? I'm somewhat in the market for a well bred pup or maybe even an old dog.
yes, I have a litter of treeing cur pups on the way from a very good male cur and a female walker that is bred right.
Might be interested in 1 of those let me know when she has them.
No...too busy running kids around with sports to do a dog justice. I'll be back at it but it'll be awhile.
