I’ve planted plots before and I always like to pack em good after I throw the seed. But my old roller finally rusted into. I’m gonna make me one out of corrugated black pipe but I won’t have it ready in time this year. What else do y’all use to drag or pack your plots after you plant the seed? Thanks
I got a cultipacker I use mostly now but I used a little 4ft harrow for years. I still use it sometimes.
I just use my 4-ft harrow drag with the tines turned up. Worked great for my small clover plots last year. I was worried the seeds would be too deep without packing it first but it came up great.
It’s gonna be bout 5-6 acres worth we’re planting. I thought bout a piece of chain link fencing to drag back over it but I didn’t know if it would be to deep
I’ve got bout 2 acre plots all together. I just disced them yesterday gonna throw the seed sometime within this month and just ride over it with my four wheeler
I have all small plots. I've used the Polaris to compact before planting before. Just drove the tires so I covered the whole field then broadcast seed then drug a piece of fence to cover seed. I now have a cultipacker.
Thought about going to a local junk yard and picking up 6 to 8 tires same size on steel rims , run an axle through them weld up a tounge of some sort to pull behind tractor.. Or I have enough old tires laying around I chain a bunch together and make a drag.. Smaller version of tire packer
