Can anyone riddle me why .308 ammo is readily available and 30.06 is extinct?!? “Supply and demand” is not adding up.

Just to tie this in with the thread….you can buy 6.5 Creedmore by the tractor trailer load.
So Hornady for example I read ran nothing but pistol calibers and 223, 308, and 7.62 for months due to demand from my understanding without ever really changing dies. Said that demand outweighed other calibers.

6.5 CM is old news. That’s why I didn’t buy one, they were outdated before we even heard the name. Where you been?

6.5 PRC 300 PRC 6.8 Western and about a billion other new calibers. The .224 Valkyrie already came and went in the same time period. (Hated to see it go) Grendel is dying too. .204 has sadly passed the ammo shelves also.

I still love old school calibers. I think 16ga, 357 mag, 30-30, 9mm, .223, 25-06 and .270 Win are all you could ever need.

I love ballistics, I study them relentlessly, study velocities/BC’s, barrel twist. If something has ammo available/reasonable and as cheap as guns are these days… I’m going to try what I want. Necessity be darned. Old codgers scared of ammo availability and hipsters scared of not being cutting edge be darned too.
a 6.5 cm and a 204 I can’t find 204 anywhere

Way over hyped but successful giving a bump to Hornadys bottom line. Hornady put one in the hands of writers and TV hunters and they pimped em hard for a few yrs. Made a lot of people think they needed the newest miracle caliber.
The 6.5 "needmore" as it's referred to by a lot guys out west.

All the new calibers are dual purpose with the nod going for long range shooting, longer throats and higher BCs! Scopes are going the same way dials and clutterd up reticals, I want a hard hitting varmit caliber in ar 15 the arc is built around long range using heavy bullets shorter brass less powder to fit the bullet deeper in tge case.
The 6.5 grendel same thing 22 nosler same boat, you can settle for it or wait till a manufacturer pulls there heads out of their ass!
6.8 necked down to 6mm is the best there is but like everything brass is hard to come by, 6.5 grendel brass is impossible to find unless you pay a arm and a leg and 6 5 bullets the same way.
Guns are going from hunting to long range shooting I prefer long range hunting and guns made for men not candy asses!

Wait until the new round I’ve been developing hits the market. The .69 powderpuff. The powder is made from an eco friendly blend of marijuana and unicorn horn shavings with a minimal amount of gunpowder.
So you commercialized on your nickname? At least you already have the bumper stickers in circulation.

One thing that is undeniable. If you want extreme accuracy out of the box. You can literally buy a 6.5 CM, a mid level scope and be shooting 1,000 yards for under $1k. Or killing deer efficiently.

Is it the best? No. Did it change what it takes to kill a deer? No. Is it accurate and available? A resounding yes.

I have tons of $ accurizing, in the barrel and stock on my .270. A $600 6.5 will still out shoot it with factory ammo, just facts. Whatever gets the masses on our side hunting and shooting is good with me.

I will carry my 06 until I can't. It is available near me everyday now. The recoil is a bit much for some but as far versatility that's something that should be researched, its out there. Also the 6.5 compared to the "old" 2506 should probably be looked at as well. Yes I'm old school. Shoot what what you want.
