This last season I had a couple DP traps that went undetected. And the food always either rotted or washed out from the rain. Well I got the bright idea other night that I was gonna paint 2 of them white. They was rusty and factory paint gone so I painted them. I was like well if I paint a couple white then even at night a coon or possum can see it and investigate it. May be way off base and thinking wrong. But I painted them anyway and they sure needed something. I wire brush most rust off and then painted. We will see if it makes a difference. I was thinkin they just wasn’t seeing them. White will stand out to them at night. Plus i had these on my truck trail at farm and hell it will make it easier for me to see. I’ve ran over one not knowing exactly where it was after few months. I’ve got a camera on that same trail and had coons and possums on cam but none in the trap so they there. I may be on to something or I might not be. I’ll see I reckon.

I'd put a painted and non-painted trap close together, see which one snags the most.

After trapping with DPS for 15 years I've had better luck with white z-trap brand than any other because it will fire going down and pulling up and doubles my rate of catch

Put some good lure or bait in your trap and the coons have no problem finding it.Now if your only trapping your own land you’ll probably be alright but if your moving around covering a lot of ground I think your just asking to get ripped off.
