coondog on squirrel?

    iv just recently discovered my young black dog has been cold trailing squirrel at night. i tried dicouraging him of that tree and moving on but hes pretty thick headed any ideas

    If he's under a year I wouldn't worry about it, he'll get it figured out soon enough.

    plus this time of year squirrels are mainly feeding on the ground,,when trees start budding they will be feeding in them,,and their won't be as much scent on the ground.

    I start most of my pups on Squrrials in the back yard of my house. I think it's great because it gets them looking up, and gets them treeing. In time you will not have to worry about it, because if you shoot a cuople of coons out to your young dog. He or she will be coon crazy and forget all about those Squrrials.
