Get in shape. Even in great shape altitudes effect everyone differently.
invest in good quality boots. Hiking 5-10 miles a day in those mountains are very rough on ankles and feet. Especially if you are lucky enough to be backing out a bull. Muzzleloader would be the most active rut hunt. Bulls will be bugling and chasing cows. Some gmu you might draw the first year. If not the point should help you draw second year.
A good frame pack. I have seen hunters trying to pack out quarters in a loose backpack with no frame. Doesn’t work very well.
We archery hunt every year. It is usually very hot so if you go muzzleloader I would get a 3 litter water bladder for your pack. And some way to filter creek water while on the hunt just in case.
