Another Colorado hunt in the books. Temps in the mid 90’s every day had the elk quiet and not moving much. It took 7 days to get it done. Ross killed on evening of day 5 and I killed evening of day 7.

I bet you guys got your Elk hunting in the high country. Last time I hunted in SW Colorado, the temps were in the high 80's and the Elk were up high in the mountains.

Day 5 and 7, did doubt kick in pretty hard or were you in the elk most days?
Ive deer and Turkey hunted for years with no pressure. I didnt realize the weird mental battle i would have to face when elk hunting. I dont have the funds to do it much and every unsuccessful day took its toll. Especially if none were seen. I spend a lot of time talking to myself trying to stay positive lol.

We were in elk every day. Had bulls within shooting range several times. But I won’t take a shot unless I’m 100% confident in being able to make it. A little doubt had crept in but I do it for the hunt. A harvest is just a bonus. I always figured if I am in Colorado and in elk I am a lot more fortunate than several stuck at work in KY.
