I guess I’m just thinking for that type of money they’d be built for a lot less layering. I got cheap stuff but layer up and stay pretty warm. I want to wear less. What about Kuiu? Anyone familiar with that or ever wore it? It’s a big brand in the NW, Canada and Alaska. They send me a thin book every Fall. Looks similar to Sitka.
I have Kuiu.

Xbo, I wear a heavyweight bottom and just the bibs (Fanatic). Top side, a merino base, heavyweight top and the jacket. Nothing else. Layering becomes unnecessary with the Sitka. As for KUIU, excellent stuff, but more for "cool" weather than cold. I have two (2) KUIU jackets as well, but not for extreme cold.

Look at kuiu new proximity line. It’s a bit more comfy and less bulky than Sitkas and super quiet. Kuiu was founded by one of the originators of Sitka which sold to gore. Excellent quality and support.

Ill be upgrading my bibs from an old redhead set that wont zip over my belly (warm but loud) to something nicer
But when in a stand i wear (100%polyester)walmart fleece thermal base layer top and bottom, a pair of fleece pants, my bibs, a thermal shirt, a heated jacket compatible with my powertools, with a fleece jacket over that. I leave the jacket unzipped on my walk in and put on the fleece over top once im in my stand and settled. Wool socks with insulated boots. I may use hot hands in my gloves boots neck or hat as needed but temperature wise i feel like im in my house when i hunt. If i have to walk far i leave my bibs and boots in a bag at next days hunting location. Or pack them in. Eff being cold

I must agree.....
I have a Rivers West Parka and Bibs ( I believe that they are more popular out west). But may breakdown and by the Bibs and Pants from Sitka in the future.

Two stupid questions-

A. Are they bulky?

B. Do you sweat in them at all?

I'm a pretty slim guy, and can get cold pretty easy. However, I have figured out that if I have a long walk to the stand even I have to take off the parka.

A) no they are like wearing a pair of sweat pants.
B) if you wear the bibs and jacket walking in, you will sweat in 10 degree weather. I strap my jacket to my backpack and unzip the front and legs of my bibs walking in. If your a flatlander you might be able to walk in without sweating. Sitting on stand I can sit in cool to cold weather without sweating.

Might want to check out Codeofsilence cold weather stuff.

The guy that designed it designed alot of the Cabelas stuff in the past(berber fleece etc). Not sure if it will stack up against Kuiu or Sitka but it's good stuff, affordable & there running a sale on it to Dec 1.
