Have been checking Jefferson county spots daily for a week or so, none up yet.
Need a good rain and they will pop.

We got a really nice flush super early up here this year. I'm guessing the unusually hot temps got them going a little sooner than normal. That was a month ago and haven't seen one since.
Every time we get rain to get them started they end up drying out before they can mature. We got a pretty good soaking yesterday and overnight so hopefully Sunday will be a good day for them.

Checked all my spots this morning, even with the rain it's as dry as a popcorn fart. Unless we get some major moisture soon we may not have any this time.

We had a pretty good rain here, but, yesterday evening found none, yet.

Went out yesterday afternoon. Found enough for a decent mess but should have went a little sooner as most of the big ones were a tad too far gone and buggy. Found some as big as my hand but they were a day or so past there prime.

Never tried them, do they taste anything like morels? Do you find them in the same type areas?

Nothing like morels, more of a delicate flavor with a slightly fruity aroma. I can also say I find mine almost exclusively around oaks where I never find morels.
