I fish the Harris chain from Mid-November thru March. This has been the worst year ever for me. Been cold and Windy. Very Windy. Weather this week will be back to 70's and hoping the wind dies down. Tournaments winning weights have been around 15 lbs and that has been guys that really know the lake. Crappie fishing has been spotty at best. Will report again when fish are ready.
Was thinking about a trip to Okeechobee the end of March/first week of April. Is that too late for good bass fishing? That is spring break for us, that's why that week. Thoughts?
I've fished Okeechobee twice, both times in early March, but 35 years ago. Both times, we caught the heck out of fish. Bass were post spawn, and feeding heavily. Crappie were feeding heavily too.....
Drakeshooter that will be good. Weather will be stable. Topwater bite will on and I would suggest you throw a Pop-R.
I never fished shiners. We wore them out on willow leaf spinnerbaits (just introduced at that time), and worms.
My second trip, Captain Hogan Baits has just come out with tequila sunrise worms. It was laminated. Good lord we wore them out.
I've pulled a boat before but its just too far. Probably get a guide a couple days and go to the Jetty at Fort Pierce and fish a couple days also.
