Looking at Twin Knobs or Zilpo campgrounds for next year April. Anybody stayed at these? Any info on them? Electric water hook ups? Easy to get camping spots or need to reserve a spot?
THANKS.
THANKS.
THANKS A BUNCH. We dont need a lot. Electric and water for camper. Mainly we fish eat and sleep. We taking a drive up tomorrow check out these campgrounds. If can reserve spots for next April. Been fishing Ky lake since 1979 for Crappie. This year was kind of a bust there. We caught Fish but worked hard for what we got. So planning a Crappie trip to Cave Run this coming April..Stayed at twin knob October of 2020. Clean bathrooms/washrooms. Lots of shade in the loop I was on. Water at each site if I remember correctly. I don’t have high standards for campgrounds and this place had all I needed. Lots of use so I would reserve a spot as soon as they become available.
Get you a map of the lake. Shows fish and wildlife habitat drops in lake. Also if you can find the flats on there the crappie really school up on there. Lived here my whole life and if you can get on them you'll have a blast.Went up yesterday me and wife. Checked out the campgrounds and the lake. We checked Twin Knobs and Zilpo and a private one The Outerbanks. Twin Knobs was real nice. We will go there in April to camp and Crappie fish. Lake is beautiful. First time I had seen Cave Run. Going to take a day trip next week try some fishing.
THANKS Jayman. Me and wife going to give it a try. I got a map of all the lakes in kY. So i will look it over.Get you a map of the lake. Shows fish and wildlife habitat drops in lake. Also if you can find the flats on there the crappie really school up on there. Lived here my whole life and if you can get on them you'll have a blast.
THANKS a bunch. While at Twin Knobs Tuesday. We toured the campgrounds. We liked J section. Talking with the Ladies at the gate. Cant do any reservations till November 1st. So we planning on it on the 1st staying J section for 14 days. Hard to believe thats all the days you can stay in a row. Have to leave campground for 10 days before you can camp there again. We go there several times a year, about the only place we will camp. Shouldn't have a problem getting a site during April, especially if going during the week. I would recommend J section, close to the ramp and places to beach your boat without having walk too far. Use this site for reserving.

THANKS. tuesday we went up checked out Twin Knobs. Very pretty campground. Wont ne going to look out knob. Not a hiker kness wont let me. Ramp looked really good. All kinds of parking for trucks and boat trailers. We usually camp at Twin Knobs several times a year. Most of the loops have most of the hook ups you're looking for. Almost all sites are easy to back into with a camper.oirs is 29' and we don't have any problems usually. The ramp at the campground is almost always open and easy to load on.
Most loops are pretty shaded and there's lots of space between the sites for privacy and elbow room. Don't take the hiking trail to the lookout knob. In the thirty years since it was cleaned out trees have grown to obstruct the view. We were disappointed to say the least.
Cant do that. That was my plan. But after talking to the workers and forestry. You can only stay 14 days in any of their run campgrounds. So have to go to private campground. Have to wait 10 days before using forestry campgrounds after you stayed the 14 days. Stupid rule.Camp at Twin Knobs for 14, then go across the lake and do 14 at Zilpo.
It gives others an opportunity to camp. Kind of like the stores not having limits on popular ammo, powder and primers. Somebody will take em all.Didn't know that. Stupid like everything else gooberment affiliated.
Yep and like the cheese sticks and cinnamon bread at the Gatti's buffet. It gives others an opportunity to camp. Kind of like the stores not having limits on popular ammo, powder and primers. Somebody will take em all.
