Canned Deer meat

    Mmmm..... Good stuff!!! Makes great stroganoff, philly cheese braids/sandwiches/quesadillas, bbq sandwiches, etc. Also good to toss into soups, etc. and is good on top of mashed potatoes if you take the broth & make a gravy to go with it. We had to start killing more deer after we discovered canned venison.... And then we learned how to make our own summer sausage & snack sticks and put an even bigger dent in the deer population!

    Made some damn good Philly cheesesteaks tonight with it!!! The no carb bread even tasted alright with the venison, peppers, shrooms, and provolone!!!!!

    Nock, I've got a dark secret about that - we use the mix from Cabelas. Seriously. We've tried mixing our own, we've tried all kinds of different mixes, but Cabelas is our favorite summer sausage - with a good amount of high temp cheese added. For snack sticks, our favorite is a honey bbq mix from a company out in South Dakota - again with lots of cheese.

    Pressure canner is on my list too get. Ate a lot canned deer meat as a kid loved it.
