I posted this pic before, not gonna see this one the web, i dont think, except where i put it here. But C.W. and i were talking this morning, We know this was a 44 ruger, he killed Big Red with in this pic. But i dont know much about gun models after you get out of the remington brand, And im pretty sure someone on here identified the correct model, but i dont have a clue where the post is. But i told him this morning, i would post this here and someone would know, he just dont remember and i cant remember what someone said it was. I think this pic gives a better view of the rifle than any other i have. Thanks

Ruger Model 44 Carbine. The old ones have cherry wood stocks.
My boy killed his first few deer with one, and I still take it out on occasion myself. Cool little guns.

I was going to say Ruger model 10/44 but the other guys are correct. I believe the model 10/44 was made much later than the model 44. Cool thread Grago.

Does CW still own the gun or know where it’s at?
He told me, he gave it to his son, who dont hunt, i dont know if his son still has it or not, and i honestly dont know if CW does, i talked to him a little, this morning, he has pretty much, been staying in since covid, except to go to dr. And hasnt had anyone around him much, he said a big part of his family, was coming this afternoon, so we didnt talk long.We did talk about this gun a little, and i know i posted here, once, but couldnt remember if it was a certain model or not, He remembered it was a ruger 44, and i know by the pics it is a ruger, and have heard him say it was a 44, but we didnt know if it was a certain model, i appreciate, the guys info on it, I probably talk to him around sunday or so, i will see if he knows for sure about , whether its still in the family or not.

I used a Ruger Model .44 Magnum on my first Black Bear hunt in Washington State.

my mom used a VW Beetle on her first black bear in Virginia. I was thinking about giving a K2500 a whirl next family reunion.

I have a soft spot for Pistol Caliber Carbines. Really cool to get the history on this deer also. Glad CW is still kicking.
