Anyone ever watch ol Derek on Vice Grip Garage on YouTube? He specializes in getting old veeeeehicles running after sitting for decades. Then he casually drives them hundreds of miles home. Literally the best show in all television/innerweb

I love the guy. Hes good about posting up content at least weekly. He jokes around a lot but I think he’s very knowledgeable and does pretty damn nice work when he wants to. He’s an old school gear head.

Not too bad if you’re mechanically inclined.
Do you guys use grease when putting the impeller in or no? I’ve read both ways.

Grease or oil it will wash out as soon as the engine starts. Lub is just for the install.

What info do you need to get to buy the right kit? Serial numbers off the motor? It's a 1998 Mercury Force 90 hp

My Johnson started pissing like a 80-year-old man last time out so I ordered the kit a month ago. everything is pretty straightforward it’s just seems like getting that damn shaft pin out is gonna be the frustrating part. That project needs to be tackled sooner than later

You might check that might be the 2/4 engine. Runs on 2 cyl until you open it up. Mixed reviews.
Check for varmints living in it. All hoses and wiring could be shot. I bought one that had been sitting for just a few years and it was full of ant beds and wasp nests.

The one I purchased was owned by Ron Bellan from Reaper Outdoors. I purchased it from his daughter after he passed.

I talked to the mechanic today and he said the motor has a lot of issues. May even need a new block. It’s a strong pass from me.

Glad you dodged that bullet. I prefer to see you enjoying a boat and posting hero pics of you lipping big bass and coolers full of crappie, rather hearing you vent about the latest mishap with a problematic boat. Hope your patience is rewarded with a fine vessel with minimal issues.

I’m not hurrying into getting one. I thought this was just a good deal but turned out not to be. I’m really wanting a fiberglass boat in good shape. Boat prices are just crazy high now. The longer I wait the bigger my boat savings can get.
