I said earlier, i have never seen a year, ever before like this. Even since season , people are talking about the same thing. Its not unusual to see a broke up buck or 2, but this is crazy. Anybody got any thoughts, Of course there are a lot of bucks, so some are gonna get broke, but this year has been ridiculous, It was very dry here this summer, so some,me included, think they didnt get the normal, mineral, nutrient or something they normally do. Dont know what caused it , but the racks, or at least around here, were way to brittle this year. Any opinions?

Nothing unusual around me. Only saw one broken antler buck this year. That’s about the norm.

One thing that could cause it is if the number of doe have substantially dropped in your area, it could cause more fights for the right to breed.

I can't say one way or another but I haven't seen anything unusual. Maybe in some areas the bucks had a better buck/doe ratio and they were fighting more or the colder weather allowed them to move and fight more.

I know of 5 or 6, pretty good bucks broke where im at. But at 1 time, at the same time, had 3 spikes, with 1 spike, another that had 1 spike, 1st day of season, then broke it off, so had 3 spikes, with 1, another with none, and some little old basket rack with 1 at the same time., in front of me.

Spoiled.
Understand, most folks don't see as many bucks in a season as you do of a morning.
But I agree. LOTSA busted up scrubs this time

I never seen the first broken antler.
I seen 8 diff bucks. One good 8 point I let walk in LC(was kickin my ass about it until I shot the one I shot lol). He will be a friggin hoss next year if he lives. I don’t run cams on that farm. Good 10 point buck that my wife shot at and missed (wife don’t miss). Idk what happened. She blamed it on limbs. Came runnin by me unscathed. Both goooood bucks. Not busted at all.
Of course the one I shot he was fine not busted up. Then the rest was small bucks but they were all in tack to.
Bucks on my farm in BC disappeared early so idk what happened to them. I still got a few cams out but no corn.
Never saw the first chasin. And never saw a mature mule headed doe either on both farms. My wife killed a big doe on our place but I never seen it. All yearling does and small bucks. I killed 3 and she killed 3. I killed buck and 2 yearling does and she killed a big doe yearling doe and buck. Good season anyway.
