I have a 1 acre field I am prepping for doves this weekend. I bushhogged and sprayed last weekend. It was about half winter wheat and half grass. I want to burn it but am pretty scared of it to be honest.

Edges are all green and really don't think there will be any issue but still scared of it. I will have a tractor with tiller on stand by as well as a 4 wheeler with 25 gallon sprayer.

Do I need to let the fire department know? Any other things I am forgetting?

If the wind gets behind that fire with foot tall grass you'll have flames 20 feet up and it's a scary sight when you're right there with it. Found that out a few years ago when the wind switched. Burn it into the wind and the tilled up fire break is a great idea. I'd get more water on standby and friends with shovels just as a precaution.
