This didn't take long
I was pretty shocked when I talked to people who live in KY elk country a few years ago. Didn't talk to a single person who was glad to have them there. I'd get mean looks just bringing up the subject.Imo roughly 90% of east ky residents who deer hunt despise elk for a multitude of reasons. If u notice these elk are not poached for the antlers like deer.

They were promised they’d be reimbursed for crop and fence damages. Once the elk were there, it was sorry about your luck.I was pretty shocked when I talked to people who live in KY elk country a few years ago. A lot are laid out and nothing removed. Just killed.Huh? Most are found with head removed. At least in my exposure they are.
You’re right about that of course. But nowadays, there’s not very many folks who have enough crops to even be concerned with damage. We’ve sure got a lot of Aholes who like to poach though. They like to trespass as well. They were promised they’d be reimbursed for crop and fence damages. Once the elk were there, it was sorry about your luck.
Good bull killed in Martin County a few years ago and they left the head but took the back straps.A lot are laid out and nothing removed. Just killed.
But a lost garden is a lost garden, and even a bigger loss for most over there. And yes, tons of poachers over there...... Everywhere for that matter, but seems to be worse there, in my experience. You’re right about that of course. That was true at one time, but highly doubtful anymore. But a lost garden is a lost garden, and even a bigger loss for most over there. And yes, tons of poachers over there...... Everywhere for that matter, but seems to be worse there, in my experience.
One of the biggest set of elk antlers I’ve ever seen was left with the carcass. Only the backstraps were removed. Yotes had eaten most of the rump area. And I’ve seen some big elk on this creek. No joke.I get it, but I bet not big bulls..........
