I wouldn't have believed it but I saw it with my own eyes

Small 8 point was dogging a doe yesterday,
when she zigged so did he,
when she zagged he matched her step for step, and chasing hard.

Bucks don't determine when a doe comes in. They'll chase anytime they smell the scent.
Maybe it's a late fawn just coming in.

I believe ya. They do that shit. It’s nature. That’s where ya late fawns come into play

She’s cycling back for some reason or another, that smell is a powerful thing

I'm aware of the male always being ready, my disbelief was a doe not bred at this time of the year.
The area this occurred has several bucks almost always visible, next to a golf course.

I totally believe it. I’ve never seen it with deer but I’ve seen turkeys breeding in July and August. Figured it was dominance thing with the birds but I can’t make the same assumption with deer. I’m sure that was neat to see!

Weird you say that, we got out a few times with the snow cover to do a little scouting and coyote hunting. We found several spots of urine with blood in them... and some piles of scat with it too. Strange for sure but thats all I could think was a few does hit it late late

She could’ve slipped her preemie or nutritionally deficient to where she just won’t conceive. I know we have problems sometimes with first calf heifers not wanting to breed back. Just a guess I know a lot more about cattle than I do deer

Probably a lot more similar than we think.

Don’t know about chasing but saw 5 running together on my commute to work this morning and one was a buck packing both sides.
