The problem is when they are saved for the night for a pic at the end, then dumped at the ramp. That is simply wrong, take them back out to the middle and knife the bladder, let the fish eat the remains...

If it's worthy of taking a pic of the kill, then you enjoy and are proud of participating in the sport. Seems like you'd want to do whatever to guarantee that sporting opportunity continues.... don't dump them at the ramps....

We usually take a medium sized bat and give the fish a wooden shampoo, (especially Gar) those dam areas can be good bowfishing , but most of the time it's just as good in the open water far from the dam, I'd say if your near the dam, cut em and sink em, other than that dump them to the beaver, turtles ect.. and keep on shootin

I am tired of the guys who set up camp and fish from the middle of the boat ramps to fish from the shore. If you are worried about fish stinking up the boat ramp, go about 100 yds. from the boat ramp and fish, that would solve your problem. The boat ramps are not designated bank fishing areas. I love it when people cast lines directly over the boat ramp and don't bother to reel up when I launch or trailer my boat. Boat ramps are not Wal-mart parking lots so get out of the dang way. If you want to fish from the pavement, go to a paylake.

What about fishing under the ramps? Does that get you fired up enough to type a long post?

It's hard to fish under the ramp, they are normally cement on top of gravel on top of dirt. I don't know of a ramp that would allow you to fish under any of those layers.:p

Oh, I've seen one or two...

We'll just try and stay away from yours tho. Wouldn't want you running over anybody trying to launch your cabin cruiser.

You might be surprised. :D

We do get out of the way when someone launches a boat. I don't particularly want to get struck by a prop or run over by the trailer.

The Ohio River borders the 2 states, a lot of Ky. residents use the Indi. ramps & doing so it is a good idea to know their laws regarding the river & feeder creeks to it.
A little tip, if you see a dead fish below the dam & don't like the smell of dead fish don't prod the fish looking for a small hole.
well its not that hard to tell that the big river borders the two states! An I only use KY ramps An ant going to run up river 2HRS or drive an hr. to put in in IND. I dont need to know their laws.an i stay on our side an fish our feeder creeks. An I wasnt proding the dead fish looking for a small hole the ones i saw had a rather large hole.It looked as they had a RAGE through them.

Did you check their lips for hook holes? I have seen fish with 9mm holes in them on the banks, and I am pretty sure there are no 9mm fish arrows around here.

If you are fishing feeder creeks, then why are you worried about dead fish at the boat ramp? You pull the boat in and out and enjoy a minimal amount of smell. Just hold your breath when you are around dead fish and you won't have to worry about smelling them at all.

being a bowfisherman i hate to see dead fish at the ramps or on the bank it is just as easy to take them with you or take them down river stick a knife in the swim bladder & they will sink as for the law you can throw any rough fish back in the water (dead or alive) that dont have a size or creel limit on them (catfish & spoonbill).the trash is about as bad as i have ever seen it also. you ought to leave it better than you would want someone to leave your own land. Dont let a few bad apples ruin it for everyone. If you see someone doing it get a lic # truck, boat description turn them in or take a picture let the kdfw take care of it.
already said my $0.02 i still stand by it.:D
