Anyone ever shoot any fish down at Cumberland? My hunting partner and I make several trips to cumberland each spring and summer to trout fish the tailwaters...I know that bowfishin the river is not allowed, but was thinking that those long afternoons after we have come off the river could be spent shootin some carp in the lake...Just wonderin if anyone else shoots the lake and what to expect....))---> Mike

Never gave it much thought but you would enjoy the heads of both White Oak and Fishing Creeks.

Fishing Creek is good when the backwater is up but that is probably about an hour's drive from Kendall. There should be some good areas closer by on the lower end of the lake.

I think we're going to start camping Below the dam...We used to always camp at the Rock House, but the place has turned into a trash heap choked w/ weeds and garbage...The last time we camped there after clearing a spot to pitch a tent a guy came in and charged us the same as the state camp groung would...forget that...I'll take the showers and clean place to stay over fighting that....))---> Mike

Kendall campground below the dam is one of my all time favorite camping spots. It is clean, well managed and just an all around beautiful area. Seems like the camping clientele there has always been good neighborly folks. I like to put a canoe in at the dam and float to rockhouse. I had never heard of anyone being charged to camp at rockhouse before.

The guy I went with said he had seen this guy before...He showed up claiming to be the caretaker for the lady that owns the place...He explained how it was privately owned and these were the rates...I took my wife and boy down and stayed at the lodge right before Memorial day last year and took my boy (then 2 ) to the Hatchery...He loved feeding the trout...The campground looked awesome !!! It did look like something had happened to the Pines in the area and they were logging out all the dead ones...You don't happen to know what happened to them , do you? Drought ???
