I have an old school Savage 340 in .222. A tack driver. Bad medicine on hotels and groundhogs.
.223 is plenty.
I use savage axis .223 with Boyd’s custom stock. I love it.
Glad to see someone list the 243. If i knew 20 yrs ago, what I know now on ballistics, i wouldnt have a 22-250. My 243 with 70 gr ballistic tips is tough on little critters.
I have a few "varmint " guns. .204, .223, .22-.250, and .243. Find myself using the .243 most often. Coyotes are tough customers!
