Saw this skinny collared mama bear and two cubs today. Saw 5 over the weekend. We see as many bear as we do deer now! It’s simply amazing how the bear population has exploded in Letcher County in the last 5-6 years.

    FYI:
    I hate bear!!!

With the number of bears now, wonder why they don't increase the quota, and add a Spring hunt?

Skinning Big boars looked like you dipped your hands in cooking oil and smell rank in my limited experience. However a 150lb female ham on the smoker in a aluminum pan with beef stock, onions, peppers and seasonings will have ppl gnawing on the bone. My .02$

To be clear, I DON'T want the blasted things here tho!

Pete we all know how much , you like them ole bears. As soon as the population gets to where they want it, you’ll make a fortune up there ,setting up bait stations, and bear stands on your place ,LOL.They’ve been seeing a few ,here in Lawrence co. too ,but not like that.I don’t want any bears either

    Not here anymore
If you think you have problems, come on down to NC. Critters are everywhere. Cant put up deer feeders, unless you build them special purpose. Cant pile any bait because then they just come plop down and live there until it's gone. Basically giant raccoons that tear up everything (and munch on your trail cameras sometimes).

BUT - the bright side. Shoot a young male or female less than 200# that has been gorging on a bait pile or natural feed source and you have some meat that is better than almost anything around. Steaks with the loins, hams on the smoker, slow cook the the shoulders - its all good. Even better than wild piggy.

It will get like the Elk. F@W will make money off them while the hunter gets a screwing.

I can not see a judge enforcing a citation for protecting your property against a bear.
