Wondering about this 36 in. Blackstone at Walmart. It is listed as 60,000 btu but I've been told its actually 36,000. I'm not sure I would use it that much because it seems limited what you can cook. Stir fry, breakfast and smash burgers seem to be the big thing. But for 300 bucks it may be worth it if its not junk. Anyone have this one. It has the new omni top that its supposed to not warp. And lastly, how much do you use your flat top grills? Do you regret getting one?

I have a Blackstone. When it goes out I will definitely buy another one for what thats worth. Anything you can cook in a frying pan (short of frying in oil) you can cook on the flat top. I have not made a burger on the regular grill since getting the flat top. Cheesesteaks, fajitas, stir fry, hibachi are all standard. But there are a ton of creative things you can make on it. Check out Youtube for inspiration. Fried tortellini, mexican pizza and cinnamon roll pancakes are some of our new go tos.

You can't get there from here.

I bought this 22" last June for the houseboat. I've only used it 7 or 8 times thus far. It's OK. I'm having to learn the heat difference from my normal charcoal grilling. It doesn't heat evenly. The strips over the burners seems to be much hotter. One thing is to get it as level as possible but that's hard to do on a swaying houseboat.
I bought it because I can move it around and use the small tanks. It's good for bacon and eggs in the morning and I've cooked burgers a few times. I'm sure I'll use it more this summer.

One of the very best purchases I’ve ever made for cooking. Couldn’t do without it. I cook breakfast of every kind including toast and biscuits, burgers, cheesesteaks, Reubens, fried potatoes, shallow fried everything from mackerel patties to catfish. Keeps the mess, heat and smell out of the house and cleans in a couple minutes or less. I’d be lost without mine. Didn’t get the Blackstone though, you’re paying a premium for the name, got a stainless 5 burner Member’s Mark from Sam’s with a lid for $300 a couple years ago, $400 now.

BTW, this is the man to follow for all the tips, tricks and recipes. He’s an ex-navy cook.

I never would have bought one, but when we bought our house one was left here that just needed cleaned up. It’s a 4 burner, only use 2 of them. But if I wear it out I will buy another one for sure. I won’t cook a burger or steak in the house anymore. And cook breakfast on there or fajitas. And I love toasting the buns for burgers on there as well. I’d say you won’t regret getting one

One of the most used pieces of equipment at the restaurant was the flat top. Its quicker, easier to clean, puts a better crust on everything than you get with a standard grill. If people did not demand to see the grill marks on a steak, most places would never cook on the grill (gas type) since they are a pain to keep clean. A cup of ice when its hot and a bench scraper cleans it in like 2 minutes. (Thats not a good way to do it with the aluminum ones, they might warp). After the top is hot, you can do anything with it, griddle, boil stock, add a puddle of beer and cover with a metal bowl to steam, use a covered hotel pan and a foil ring to improvise an oven....use your imagination.

I’ve got the 36” Blackstone it’s used for what you described plus you can fry thing in a pot on it, sear steaks. But in all reality I’ve used mine twice in two years. I’m sure if I had a family living here I’d prolly use it more. For the price they are selling it for you can’t beat it and if you have the room get it and you’ll use it some anyway

I had a Blackstone, but gave it to my Niece. I like a regular grill much better. It's fine if you have parties or take it on a camp-out, but if you just use it at home to fix dinner, it can be a pain. Mine was a two burner style with hood cover, propane style.
