Biggest deer you’ve ever seen on the hoof?

Fort Knox gun hunt back in the early 90s, I was in the back of area 85 and it was the year the range was being built, absolute Monster that must have came off the tank range parallel to 85, I did get a shot at him but it was the biggest deer I have had a chance to harvest. Biggest I have seen in person is on Aikmon Road in Woodford County. I’m not sure if that’s the proper spelling but it’s close. I worked on some barns at Gainesboro horse farms and was out there a lot and during the rut it was unreal to see the big bucks, but those you can’t hunt. But we started going down Aiken Road before and after work looking at the monsters. Plus the Gainesboro horse farm had cameras all over the farm and the guards would tell you also where the big bucks was and would let us drive around the farm and look at them. All I can say is unreal. Huge deer. For the record, I have harvested some big deer myself with 2 going 150. 1 P&Y and many 120 class. But Woodford County takes the cake around those farms on Aiken Road and Old Frankfort Pike.

Friend of mine told me about the deer on Aiken Road. I drove down there one evening and saw probly 200 deer in a couple mile stretch. Saw several big ones, It was unreal for free range deer in KY.

Back when spotlighting was legal, I saw two that would probably be 180 but that’s just guessing. Never seen one that big while hunting. Killed a 160 a few years ago which is probably the biggest I’ve ever seen hunting.

Saw a giant in 95 on the adjoining property. He had to be near 200". Tine length and mass was stupid. Wish I could still hunt that place. Biggest body is probably the one I killed 6 years ago that field dressed 230+.

Funny, I was going to make a post about this same topic.

Yesterday I was coming up the Natcher Pkwy and got off at an exit at 2:30. There was a small field beside the exit. I saw a doe eating and there was this huge, I mean huge buck walking slowly behind her. I stopped on the ramp and watched them at 100 yards away. This guy was huge. I am talking +200" huge. He had at least a 22" spread and I counted 18 pts that were going everywhere and didn't count them all. He had mass like no ones business. I couldn't have put my hands around his bases and he was thick all over. I have seen 170-180" bucks and this guy would have dwarfed them by a mile. Unfortunately, my phone died about 10 miles earlier and I couldn't get a pic. I was tempted to get the camera when I got home and go back and try to get a photo.

He looked a lot like this buck, only bigger.

Three years ago I saw a giant on the farm I was hunting chasing a doe. I was taking a leak and rifle was against a fence post. Literally the two biggest deer I’ve ever seen hunting were under those exact circumstances. Ive killed decent deer but never anything in that heart skips a beat, knees turn to jello seeing it at 150 yards with no binoculars class. Ive only seen maybe four like that while in the woods with hunting on my mind. I passed on 140’s all season after that… almost ruined hunting for me trying to get that stupid deer. Much like this year.

I’m shooting the first thing I see with horns next year 🤣

I see some people mentioning Aiken Rd and Old Frankfort. I’m not that way real often, but do drive Leestown outbound about everyday. Even on the Fayette side I’ve seen several nice deer. Three years in a row saw this giant 8pt in a trashy creek bottom that connects two small fields. If you didn’t hunt and drive like I do you’d never notice. All 3 times was ugly nasty days, like rainy and dreary looking and late October. Been a few years back so I’d say something finally happened to him as you could tell he was an old buck. Right at the Fayette/Scott line there was a field of soybeans. This has was at 5:25 and it 87 degrees out, late September, I saw a freak while driving. He was shedding his velvet and it was hanging off all over making him look even more like a freak. I’ve never killed a “big” deer by most standards and most of my big encounters have came on the commute…except 1.

As far as bucks I’ve seen while actually hunting, a 176 11 pointer. Neighbor ended up killing him 2 years ago. Probably 6 or 7 in the high 50s low 60s over the years.

And just driving back roads around my house I’ve seen some absolute monsters. Bachelor group this summer with at least 2 booners, and a couple 140s.
Biggest I’ve ever seen was about 15 years ago in prospect ky on a bean field. Huge non typical that had to be 200+
