I used to fish with Shimano sahara's but they would lock up if they got wet. I now fish with Pflueger presidents and couldn't be happier.

I used to use the Pfleugers. Wore a couple out, or in other words used them till they fell apart. In all fairness they were heavily used and did very well while they held together. I switched to cheapest shimanos a few years ago and am twice as happy with them.

Without a doubt, Pfleuger is a great reel.

Pfleuger snuck up on shimano with spinning reels, imo, left them in the dust. Baitcasting Daiwa and Lews are also sneaking up on shimano. Shimano is slipping down the slope.

Looking to mainly wade fish rivers for smallies , would like something that has a good reel/line ratio that takes up a good amount of line on each turn of the crank.. It will get wet so interested in quality name brand does not matter.. Thanks guys for all the replies..

I've got several Pfleugers that I've abused over the years and they are still going strong.

I'm really starting to like Okuma. I've got a couple lower end Avengers that have handled saltwater for a couple of years, and a Trio that is just too nice to subject to salt. Solid and smooth reels for the money.
