Going a different route this year going to start feeding in Feb. for antler growth. Have a couple nice deer that made it through gun season want to get a jumpstart on them.

Going to feed for a month? Feed ban in KY begins March 1st. This is a statewide ban and has been in effect for several years.

    The END!!!!
I would try to read the contents formula of different feeds and check for calcium, after all antlers are calcium deposits.

I feed goat/sheep mineral due to the lower selenium content vs cattle minerals. It is too low in copper for deer though, they have a big copper demand.

I put out mineral licks early more for camera inventory than anything. Also our cattle have access to them so, all legal.

This study shows no correlation between mineral feeding and antler growth.

March through May you cannot feed deer unless it’s around your own yard. I personally think deer can find plenty of food to grow their racks without supplemental feeding. But if you do I’m guessing a commercial protein pellet will work if you can get them eating it. Probably have to mix it with corn to get them used to it.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but KY has a statewide feed ban from 3/01 to 5/31. It's in the regs and has been for several years. No feeding of wildlife outside of your yard basically. Not to include normal agricultural practice or feeding of livestock.

Not trying to skirt the law but from what I read feeding 3/01-5/31 can be done around a home. So the property owner that lives on this land can feed wildlife since he lives there?

I think it's because of turkey season (no feeding) but it says you cant!
From what's been told the best stuff is that with the big buck on the bag!!! , Gee whiz everybody knows that, lol.

Its to keep people that want to turkey hunt legal, if i live next to you and you put out corn my turkeys are baited. It bs but is the way the law works. Id fight it tooth an nail and say i didnt know but if i can see it from my property it would be a tough case to win. My recourse is to snitch on my neighbors for baiting during the ban. My neighbors dont feed during the ban but if they did id hunt my property and fight in court if it became an issue. I feel i can only control my property in regards to baiting and being held accountable for neighbors is complete bs.

They call it the curtilage of your home. That’s not the 100 acres you own but the surrounding area that you mow and take care of around your home.

When yall, come to a definite, decision, i got a few, could use some, about 4 or 5 like these, put their heads togather every night, , they got plenty grit, but could use a little boost in the rack department.
