Speaking of the 270. I have 2, one auto and one bolt. For years I always heard the bolt action was borderline brutal compared to the auto. I was kinda getting ready for it when sighting in the Weatherby this year but it never phased me. I couldn't tell the difference. Is that normal?
The bolt action 270 recoil is not bad IMO. I would think the semi auto recoil would be less due to the gas operated system. Is your Wby chambered in 270 win or 270 wby? The wby barks at you when you pull the trigger.
Thanks Tankt! A friend in Anchorage hunts grizzlies with a .243! He says, just wait until his mouth is open, you can see his teeth..and put one inside! Lol! Those people are a different breed. I think this guy would just wrestle the bear into submission.
They've been like "the hammer of Thor" on every deer I've hit with one...and the gun shoots them better than it should...around 3/8"! I hunt an open field alot, behind my shop. They come in at 495 and I drop them DRT. It's just a 700 that I trued and chambered a Pac-Nor for..but it shoots for a hunting rifle.
