I used to Squrill hunt my but off as a youngster and would scout for deer, usually jumped a nice one or saw him walking or just good rubs scrapes ect, I know times have changed but technology takes some of the challenges from buck hunting. Miss those days when no one knew what buck deer was there unless they hunted a lot or around the woods farming and working. I have cameras and they are nice tools but still remember the excitement of deer hunting old school ways of just going in and seeing what happens

I keep my cameras in the closet. If a buck is “tag worthy” I shoot him. That can change from day to day for me. I love the excitement of not knowing what might show up.

I like cams and use them it allows us to scout with a minimum of intrusion... I still like to wear out some bootleather though.

We’ve had this discussion time and time again. I love to look at pics. Do I hunt by the info my camera gives me? No! Relying only on what you see on camera seems crazy to me.

I hunt half the time where no cameras are at. I just like have something to do during the summer. Get pics of some rare stuff, flying squirrel, bobcats, Bigfoot etc....

There is a bit of info out now that says game cams can spook smart old bucks... You will often get one pic of a big old buck staring right at the cam and never get another one.

I see way more Hammercats on camera than in my travels.

Bad thing about cameras is you know what’s there I passed 120-130” 10pt this morning because I know there’s 3 bigger ones on the farm before game cams I woulda killed that 10 and been happier than a fat kid in a ice cream shop but now if I shot him I would feel like I could have done better

Was it 35mm or 110 as well?

I had the 35mm you had to take film to get developed but it was better than the string trail time I had used previously

Using cams is like knowing what presents you have under the tree. Kind a takes the fun out of it. But knowing a monster is close by can make it easier to pass lesser bucks. It’s hard to not use them now but I wish they never invited them.
