Which do you prefer, getting in the stand before daylight or being able to hunt while walking to the stand?

I don't practice with my quiver on my bow or a pack and treestand on my back so I try not to hunt that way either. I have a hard enough time just hitting them.

I always get to my stand about an hour before sunrise. Gives plenty of time to get settled in, and ready for shooting light.

I go an hour before daylight I like hearing foot steps under my deer stand wondering what it is. Well that's one of the reasons but I do like to be there when thing wakes up.

30 mins early is enough for me but I work 2nd shift so I never know what time daylight breaks. I hate getting in the woods after daylight so I usually mis judge daylight and get there an hour early.

I always kind of thought that if you get in stand before birds start singing your good but if I’m running late I bump everything, if I’m late I usually just set down edge of field or woods

30 minutes minimum,...hour is always my goal. sometimes it works out to be a little more. Don't like rushing to my spot,..underarmour is great but I still don't like breakin any sweat on way in,...then freeze to death later.

As long as I got some considerable darkness left to settle in I'm fine 20-30 mins before daylight. Last Sunday in the cold rain-sleet-snow I was a good 45 mins before daylight but my old man wasn't with me. He's always running late, "It ain't gonna hurt them old deer." Heard it hundreds of time in my life.

I usually get in about 30 min. before also, don't like setting in the dark any longer than that and feel there's no use to. Killed almost all my bucks later in the morning anyway, only killed one of mine at daybreak.

If I'm bowhunting, I always get in 45 minutes before first light. With a firearm, it depends on where I'm headed. If it's a hike more than a couple hundred yards, I wait until I can see, then stalk the stand. I've never killed a deer that way, but I've sure had the opportunity.

Bow or gun... I’m usually like 30-45 minutes in the stand before daylight.

I try to do the same. Something about sitting in the dark and watching the world wake up around you. I enjoy that as much as anything.
