ok well if meeks is double teamed and patterson is triple teamed then that leaves 2 ppl open. any college division 1 player should be able to knock down a wide open jumper whether is a 20footer or a 10footer. hopefully billy g's defense over comes all the offensive talk.
As far as picking a player from u of l, i really liked padgett. he was hard working and was really enjoyable to watch. him and hansboro was really awesome to watch on the floor.
sorry turkeytalker, i had a very long long day of school yesterday. i meant 3 ppl openUmm, basketball is not my strong suit,BUT?
I'm not sure how to respond to this. The double teams will not take place at the same time. If I coached an opposing team, I'd want Meeks to be taking contested jumpers and NOT driving into the lane and getting to the rim. UK's whole offense is much more effective when Meeks is able to break down defenses. This forces the interior players to help which will free up Patterson et. al for easy assists or put backs on rebounds. Because Meeks has such a good first step, I expect that opposing teams will try to deny him the ball and/or run a double-team flasher at him to force him to give it up before he can really become a one man play-maker.
It's no secret that Patterson is going to get doubled by almost every team.
The one exception may be the early match-up with UNC. B/c they're so deep and athletic, UNC may be about the only team that would try to play UK and Patterson heads up on the defensive end w/out any gimmicks or doubles. I think we'll see straight man out of UNC for at least the first 10 minutes of the first half (or maybe the entire first half). UNC will put Deon Thompson on Patterson and rotate in Zeller and some other stiffs as needed.
I don't expect Meeks to have a huge game. UNC has outstanding athletes and defenders in Danny Green and Wayne Ellington, especially Green on defense. I think that those two match up pretty well against Meeks and suspect that they might effectively neutralize him, especially in the second half when UNC might tire Meeks by their constant stream of fresh defenders.
If they have problems keeping Meeks out of the lane with man defense early in the first half, I'd expect UNC to adjust and flash doubles at him to force UK's other players to handle the ball.
I'll predict that, b/c of UNC's straight man D, UK's offense will be primarily predicated on dumping the ball into Patterson. If he scores more than 12 points in the first half, which he will, I expect to see more double-teams in the second half. Of course, if UNC is winning handily despite Patterson's efforts, I'd expect UNC to continue doing whatever it is they're doing at the time. lf Patterson gets in foul trouble, UK better batton down the hatches, b/c it will be a long night.
I'll predict that Harralson (who'll probably get the assignment to cover Hansbrough) will get in early foul trouble - I'm talking 2 fouls in the first 3 minutes or 3 fouls in the first 15 minutes - and will not be a factor at all against UNC.
For UK to have any chance, they'll need big games from the supporting casts. Personally, I like Perry Stevenson's defense and rebounding, but he'll need to score some points this year. Harris needs to step up, and hopefully, newcomers like Darius Miller and Liggins will also be able to step in right away and contribute.

I know that the double teams wont come at the same time. I play varsity basketball and have been told i shoot well but i absolutly LOVE stepping into a three pt shot from the post. it allows me to set my feet and in one fluid motion into the shot. Now if patterson is really covered as bad as people think meeks should be killin some teams with the 3.
Hansborough is suppose to be out until Dec 1.
Cant spell DUKE without UK!!! ha haI would just pull for DUKE!!!
I didn't realize that. Thought he was back in action???
I think UK can play with UNC w/out Hansbrough, as long as they can slow down Ty Lawson.
That guy is a handful for anyone.
