My new cast iron dishes (and trivets) came in yesterday so I had to try them out today! Individual turkey tetrazzini casseroles for lunch - they worked like a charm!

Since we picked the winter squash a few nights ago, I tried something new for lunch today. Wasn't prepared to like it but it's pretty darned good! Butternut squash soup (with sour cream & bacon bits).

I'll be canning up the rest of our squash as a base for it tomorrow (squash, onions, potatoes, carrots, celery, chicken broth, salt & pepper). Then when we want some, we pop open a jar, puree it & heat that sucker up!!!

Would she share her recipe? Lord knows we end up with pears coming out our ears every year.... I'm always looking for new ways to use 'em up!
It’s just your basic lazy day cobbler.
1 C each of flour and sugar
1/4 t salt
1.5 t baking powder
1 t cinnamon
3/4 C milk
4 C pears peeled and sliced

Melt 1 stick of butter in 8x8 glass dish while oven preheats
Combine dry ingredients, add milk and combine.
Pour batter over melted butter.
Put fruit on top and sprinkle with an additional 1/2 C sugar.
350 for 1 hour

I sent a pic to my wife to share with her vegan sister in LA. She is out there visiting. I eat organic.
Grilled marinated venison, garden tomato, and baked potato.
