Wondering if you guys have better luck at Ballard with less decoys and not much calling or the opposite. It seems like the birds get call shy and we have had better luck with about a dozen decoys and letting the birds drop in. Just curious.

Get there attenion, and when they start working hit em on the corners. Very little calling is required for refuge ducks!!

Do we need to bring Decoys to the WMA hunt or do they still have those broken up Shell decoies. We have the last two days of the duck season. We are really looking fowarded to it.

Bring decoys or you will just be hunting over blank water.

They do not provide any decoys anymore.

Well sir, im not from that region but we go every year. Some tips is bring decoys and plenty of em id say 40 -50 mallard floaters throw some gad and widgeons in there mix it up. Get your mojos and everybody you know that has one and test the water, some days down there they can suck em in some days you cant buy a duck with one but always have 4-5 handy. As for hotel rates im no help to ya we stay at drury inn in paducah, they say no dogs but we brought our lab in anyways. Goodluck to ya ill be down there the 6,7 hopefully covered up with em

I'm staying in LaCenter at the LaCenter Motel. Seemed like very friendly people and they are getting $45/night for a 2 queen bed room.

Good number of ducks in Timber this A.M. if you are willing to work for the ducks than you can kill them, we proved this this A.M. 5 full limits on public land, but was alot of work. We were the only group that worked our butts off and made it to where the ducks were in the swamp.:):):)

Another ? about Ballard, do you guys use a lot of decoys or not? I have heard guys talking out there that use 5 or 6 dozen duck decoys, but we have had better luck with very few decoys and not much calling at all. Every hole of water out there has decoys and a mojo going and people start calling to the birds as soon as they see them. Just curious for some experienced opinions!
