Sold my house and bought another one, but with a smaller yard. I have a new fence that is about 40 yards from the other end and I have my glendale in front of it for shooting. My question is who has something designed rather than hay or straw bails to hit behide their target? I shoot pretty fast bows and use maxima hunter arrows which can get pretty costly. I have another property down the road to shoot at but like to have something near my garage to tune. If you all have any pics let me know.

I'd stick with the hay bales, and add a piece of carpet behind the bales. I would set two 4x4 posts, and add a 2x4 across the top to attach the carpet to. Allow the carpet to hang loose, as it will absorb an arrow impact much better. I am assuming this backstop is to stop arrows that have passed through your Glendel target and not a stopgap measure in case of a miss.;)

Because I'm cheap, I tend to hang on to targets well past the time I should. I've had my Goldtips go through the target, and into and through my rough-sawn board fence. Fieldtips are usually re-usable, but broad heads are usually toast. I've never had the arrow break because of this, although I have had to re-place the insert. They are finally starting to build houses behind me after 6 years, so I guess I'll have to think of something as a backstop.

Usually at 30 yards i don't miss, but you never know. My son is starting to hunt with me this year with his new bow and he is not use to it. I used hay bails in the past and such and it looked like crap and started mildewing after a while. I don't have much back yard at all , the deck and the inground pool covers most of it. I own 5 acres behind my house but it is all hill side up to the top of the mountain. I have used mining belt before but with high arrow speeds they splinter the arrows. Im shooting around 312 with a 390 grain arrow from my bowtech insanity cpx.

My buddy is in the insulation business and he takes big garbage bags and fills them with foam insulation....once it sets up it makes for great targets or a target stop. He gave me a couple and they work well. Just an idea if you know someone in the spray insulation business.
