Found these growing on a dead buckeye near the house. What are they and are they edible? If edible how do you fix them? I know nothing about them except for dry land fish.

Nice haul of oysters, see if they Are buggy or mushy but from the pics they look pretty good. Ask for preparation slice them up and sauté them and some butter and salt. If you like them use them on absolutely everything like I do LOL

It can but ive also found them in decent shape and ate em up quick, they dont seem to last as long in the fridge if i find them froze or right after being froze
Also, I found so many last week I actually put a few bags up in the freezer to see how they do. I dont have high expectations but may be nice when im craving them but cant find any

I did the same. Vacuum sealed some, and zip locked some with air left in the bag. I'll let y'all know how it works out. I also have low expectations

I wish I was more comfortable with identifying shrooms. I'm certain I've walked past some delicacies in the woods. I've admittedly not taken much effort to get there so thats on me. The shrooms in the 2 groups of pics (from JR and Meatstick) don't even look like the same variety to me but ya'll are saying they are both oysters? It's that kind of thing that just keeps me uneasy with anything other than a morel.

Any recommended literature / websites out there to help with ID?
