Of course it gets blown out of proportion at times , a man starts find a few dead deer and he hears of a few on adjoining land , it does tend to freak folks out a bit..

I think you win the "mega freak out" title by associating an Iowa outbreak to eastern kentucky.

There are several grasses that do well here in Central Kentucky. I have a great stand of Birds foot Trefoil, which takes drought and will grow on poor soils. I advised a friend in Green County to plant some Birds Foot Trefoil, as he wanted something he wouldn't have to replant every year.

May try some , it's a bit pricey but like many perennials it's a one time investment at least for a while.. although a seeding rate at 5 to 8 # per ac 50# will do all I need.

I have found at least 6 dead around here. None on my farm YET. But on my neighbors farm. Called them in. F&W came out on the first one. Said EHD. How I found them was seeing the Buzzards. 4 Doe 2 little Bucks.

I haven’t found any here in Pike yet, and haven’t heard about any. I can tell you this, it’s very dry here. Many of the smaller creeks around here have completely dried up.

That's too bad I hate it , many if us work so hard to have a healthy herd for and for family to hunt then something out of our control kills the deer you have been watching all summer, deer killed by another Hunter would be fine but wasted rotted meat in the woods sucks.

I really feel sorry for those who took time to plant and maintain their food plots; only see them dry-up and die-off. Creating good food plots is both time consuming and can be expensive, when preparing and amending the soil.

My beans are drying out and looking pitiful , the up side is I have tons of pods that look good, now whether they make it to late season , that's another question. Just planted a bunch of turnips and have some oats I need to plant, waiting on rain in the forecast.

My plots are shot. Picked up 400 lbs of cereal rye and ordered 10 lbs of balansa clover to go with it. Gonna hope we get some rains soon so I can still have something green later in the season. Haven’t had rain at my place since the 20th of last month.

My Brother follows the weather, and he said this weather trend could last through November into December. He says upper level high pressure (2) locked together and covers much of the mid-section of the country. There is another tropical storm which is predicted to move up to our area next week, which might give us some much needed rain. However, he just informed me that that tropical storm is going to be mostly in Georgia, but you never know. He said this weather trend reminds him of 1988!

I hope we don't have another "burn ban" for most of October and November. That's a pain in the butt.
