Been very cloudy and windy all morning here. The sun is finally starting to come out and it looks like it’s going to be clearing up. I’d like to be heading out right now. Anyone hunting or going out this afternoon?

My wife and I have been out since 8 this am. Blustery and cool here in Knox county. We haven’t heard a single gobble. We just set up on some fresh sign hoping one comes sneaking in.

It sure has been.
I was at my kitchen sink at 11 and looked out my window around 60 yards to see a gobbler strutting and a hen just above him.
She was digging in some hay and he was wanting to have a romp in the hay with her.
My wife was getting a kick out of watching him strut until my son came pulling in my driveway and they eased off.

Fall was windy too! Find some of our old threads. Not the crazy winds like this spring but darn windy.

I got out for a while today trying to get on one. Lots of hens moving around but didn't hear one gobble. Kinda odd really since they almost always start firing up good towards the end of season where I hunt.

I haven’t heard any gobbles this week. Been outside a lot but not at daylight. Of course the neighborhood has lost 5 toms since April 15 lol

Went at the crack of dawn. 1st time in 2 weeks found a bird without hens. Followed behind him while he gobbled waiting for perfect time to call to him. When he started to retrace his tracks clucked to him and he was coming but in nasty thick bramble and spitting at me but I couldn't see him. He left gobbling so I followed again and he went to a field and I was able to get a hen decoy out. Took a while to break but here he comes,so I reposition myself but not enough. He came in directly behind me, saw me flinch and was gone. WTF you devil bird!!! Played him for over 3 hours and 1 mile of walking.

Yesterday was arguably one of the most active turkey days I’ve ever had. Seen a lot of movement. Heard a lot if gobbles. In the end I choked are 11:30. Ended a perfect kill streak. Rushed a shot and I had to watch him fly away.
Today is the exact opposite. Heard 1 bird so far. And todays the first day I’ve had bug issues. Gnats and skeeters are getting to me. It’s my last day I can hunt. Sad to end on a miss but maybe one will slip up before I can’t take these bugs any more.

I wanted go today, but couldn’t make it out. Seeing 4-6 hens in one area at once. I haven’t seen anything with a beard in 5 days on camera.
