excellent advice. check out Mont Bell sleeping bags, I have two. also, Hilleberg tents are hard to beat. well worth the money if packing for several miles
I love my Brunton Raptor stove. Very light, very compact. Sadly no longer made due to Brunton and I think Primus merger.
I do my kayak camping than true backpacking so weight is not as much of an issue. Nothing beats an iron skillet seared steak cooked on a campfire.
